# Post and manage stories

Post photo or video stories, choose who can view them, and manage stories for accounts or eligible groups and channels.

Post photo or video stories from Telegram accounts and check the results in the app. Stories in the chat information panel also let you view content from the person you are chatting with. Not every story you can see is yours to manage.

## Who can do this

**Owner** and **Manager** can post or manage stories. **Owner**, **Manager**, and **Support** can read stories according to their account permissions.

For groups/channels, the account must also have the appropriate Telegram permissions, and the group/channel must be eligible to post stories.

## Before you start

- The account is signed in, its proxy works, and its machine is online.
- Photos or videos you have permission to use.
- A carefully considered audience list.

Telegram may require Premium or other conditions. The app does not skip these requirements.

## Where to start

Open **Accounts**, select an account, then open the **Stories** tab. You can also view stories from the chat information section in **Inbox**.

## Steps

1. Select **Post story**.
2. Choose a photo or video.
3. Wait for the app to read and process the file.
4. Check the preview.
5. Enter a **Caption** if needed.
6. Select **Who can view**.

For personal stories, options include **Everyone**, **Contacts**, and **Close friends**. **Close friends** uses the Telegram account's close friends group. This form is not a tool for creating a new recipient list.

Group/channel stories use the public audience of the destination, not the privacy selector used for personal stories.

MOV and WebM are converted to MP4 on the machine running your browser. Wait for conversion to finish, then check the picture and sound again. If the browser cannot convert the audio, the app warns that the story will have no sound. Do not ignore this warning.

7. Select **Keep on profile** if you want the story to remain on the profile after its normal display period.
8. Click **Post story**.
9. Wait for the posting result. Do not close the dialog just because the file has uploaded.
10. Open the story in the list to review it.

### Delete a story

> [!WARNING]
> Deleting a story removes the posted content from Telegram. Only delete stories you have permission to manage, after checking the correct account or destination.

1. Open the story to delete.
2. Select the delete action in the viewer.
3. Confirm when prompted by the app.

## Result

The story is posted on Telegram when the job completes. Selecting a file or seeing a pending status is not proof of successful posting.

## Check

Check the account, audience, caption, picture, and sound. For groups/channels, check the destination before confirming.

## If something goes wrong

- Missing Premium or boost requirements: meet the conditions specified by Telegram.
- No permission to post: check administrator permissions.
- Video conversion fails: try a suitable MP4 file.
- Story is pending: check the reason in [Logs](https://tlg.builera.app/en/docs/guides/logs).
- Story is gone: it may have expired or been deleted.

## Do it with the API or MCP

Use [stories.list](https://tlg.builera.app/en/docs/reference/rest/stories.list), [stories.post](https://tlg.builera.app/en/docs/reference/rest/stories.post), and [stories.manage](https://tlg.builera.app/en/docs/reference/rest/stories.manage).

Tool names: `stories_list`, `stories_post`, `stories_manage`. Use [stories.channel_status](https://tlg.builera.app/en/docs/reference/rest/stories.channel_status), tool `stories_channel_status`, to check whether a group/channel can post stories.
